Siemens to Discontinue S7-200 Line!

Ames Electrical Consulting can help you migrate these soon to be obsoleted systems.

Press Release from Siemens:

As of October 1, 2017, the S7-200 product line will be discontinued after more than 18 years. We will continue to deliver spare parts and perform repairs for the subsequent 6 years, however, since these are discontinued products, availability of the items will be affected and there will be impacts in delivery times. The cost to provide these products and repairs increases yearly as the parts are no longer available and manufacturing is discontinued, resulting in significant list price increases.

Siemens is committed to helping our customers achieve maximum value from their automation systems by providing new features and capabilities, long-term support, and by facilitating upgrades to the latest technologies.

The SIMATIC S7-1200 is the innovative follow-up product for the established SIMATIC S7-200.

The S7-1200 has the following key features:

  • Engineered with the TIA Portal Software for scalability with other SIMATIC controllers, reusable library concepts, state of the art runtime objects, and much more
  • Integral Ethernet interface for fast, standardized communication
  • Motion Control to PLCopen for simple motion control

If you need any further clarification or have additional questions, please contact us anytime to discuss upgrading your systems from the S7-200 to the S7-1200.

Please note that last time buys have to be complete by the 15th of September 2017 to ensure all processes will be able to proceed smoothly.
